Fall Inspiration For Your Fireplace

I’d like to start with, “Don’t we all love fall.” The air becomes crisp. We change our clothes to those warm comfy sweaters. The kids start school and by now have a routine. I love it when we can begin to decorate for the fall. All the farmer’s markets and farms are set up with their pumpkins, mums, and gourds. Beautiful colors all around us. We see the reds, oranges, and yellows of the trees changing.

The crisp air invites us to be inside more. I long to light that beautiful fireplace that has been hibernating all summer. All around are fairs and delicious food choices. All this tells me it’s fall.

Decorating Is Easy When You Look Around You

Now is the perfect time to collect some of what nature brings us this time of the year. You can decorate your fireplace mantel with the colors of fall.

I prefer to use what I can get in nature. I also like to collect odds and ends to add to my fall decorating landscape throughout the year. You can find candle holders, vases, baskets, and bowls at your local thrift shop. Someone’s trash is another one’s treasure.

Let The Holidays Begin

Now is the time to start planning your holiday mantel designs. It all starts with the beginning of fall.

For me, the fall decor is a base for the seasons to come. I tend to put out my vases, bowls, and candle holders to start the landscape. In fall I bring out the pumpkins, gourds, and colors of fall. Whether you bring out a garland of leaves or acorns, anything fall goes. Add some colored candles for ambiance. I keep it simple.

Then you can transition right into Halloween. The colors will remain the same. You can switch out some items for some ghosts and ghouls. I may switch out some other fun candles to go with the mood of the month.

For Thanksgiving, I clear out the ghosts and ghouls and add some turkeys or a cornucopia. I love using a string of battery-operated twinkle lights. I’ll add those for the mood. I’ll add some pinecones to the glass bowls that I had there since early fall.

Then comes Christmas. The most magical time of the year. I’ll now clear out the oranges and yellows. Put away the pumpkins. Bring out reds and greens. I keep the lights for the warm effect. Grab some greens from the evergreen out in the backyard or at the tree farm. Add a few shiny glass ornaments to the bowls. Add red or green candles in the holders and I’m good to go.

Use your imagination. Use color and what makes you feel good. Enjoy this time of year.
